Hays County Warrant Records Hays County Warrant Records

Start with the court on the notice. The Hays County District Clerk, County Clerk, and Sheriff’s Office maintain different record routes. A city municipal citation uses a different route from a district-court file, a justice-court traffic matter, or a jail-record question. Read the instructions published by the relevant office before traveling or submitting a public-record request. If a court and agency appear on the same document, contact the office responsible for the particular record and provide its case reference. Check published contact details before sending case information.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We operate a private reference site. We cannot confirm a warrant, recall or clear it, accept bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice. Contact the issuing court or responsible county office using the official route for that record.

Choose the Hays County Office That Holds the Record

Hays County does not list one direct public warrant counter or dedicated warrant phone line. The Sheriff's Office main number is 512-393-7800 at 810 S. Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos. The nonemergency number is 512-393-7896; the jail records desk is 512-393-7832. Bond information is routed through 512-393-7807 or 512-393-7690. These numbers serve different purposes; ask which office handles the exact record before sharing personal details.

  • District Court records: District Clerk, Hays Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, Suite 2211, 512-393-7660.
  • County Clerk records: County Clerk, Suite 2008, 512-393-7330; published counter hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • County Court at Law: Suite 2292, 512-393-7625, for matters on that court's docket.
  • City municipal cases: contact the city court named on the citation; San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and Dripping Springs maintain separate court routes.
  • Justice-court cases: identify the precinct from the citation, because JP offices keep separate dockets.

For an unresolved case, record the court name, cause number, and any notice date, then ask the clerk which action is required. A county search and a city-court search cover different record sets; no single phone call checks every office.

Hays County Limits New-Charge Phone and Email Checks

The County's official “Do I have a warrant?” FAQ explains that the Sheriff's Office does not confirm new-charge warrant status through ordinary phone or email inquiries. The published route for an attorney or bondsman is a request on professional letterhead. Read the County warrant FAQ before sending information or expecting a response.

This restriction applies to the county's stated process and should not be generalized to every city court or justice court. For a municipal citation, contact its city clerk; for a JP case, use the precinct named in the paperwork.

County Record Searches Have Different Purposes

The public Hays County Courts Records Inquiry page offers separate choices for criminal records, court calendars, jail records, and bond information. Those categories are not one complete warrant database. The county inquiry portal can help identify a court record, while the originating office must confirm whether a warrant is active or recalled.

Use the county warrant lookup page for more routing detail. If the notice names a city or justice court, start there before interpreting an empty county result.
